New HP Mini 1000 Mi Edition Coming this Week

Netbook Deals (See All)

HP has a new model of the HP Mini 1000 coming up in a couple of days called the HP Mini 1000 Mi Edition (stands for Mobile Internet), possibly from the Wed 7th.

This edition apparently comes with a completely different OS judging by the description. It looks like a cloud based Linux based OS possibly with quick boot-up and shut down times like we’ve seen on the Lenovo IdeaPad S10e with it’s “SplashTop” OS. You can also access photos, music and videos stored on your computer.  Hopefully like the “SplashTop” OS on the s10e, you can quickly bypass this and load Windows XP.

Looks like there’s going to be a mini drive for additional storage for that recessed port that comes with certain models (SSD only).

Prices starting at $379.99.

Check out the HP Mini 1000 Mi Edition at HP.

This is NOT a cloud OS.
This is Ubuntu linux with some HP’s improvements…

How do you load iTunes on this system?

Angel, if you have the Mi Edition of the HP Mini 1000, then you can’t use iTunes I’m afraid, you’ll need the Windows XP Edition.

@angel
you could just use programs like songbird
and oh, portablemonkey just asking, but how many punches do you think the hp mini could take?

Willie: I think it’s quite sturdy all around though I had a bad experience with mine. Had a mark forming on the wristpad which easily became scratched also. I never took it places so I can’t really comment on it’s durability.
